Seinfeld was one of the post popular comedies of the 1990s and it was also one my all time favorite shows.
To this day my buddy Joe and I still text each other random Seinfeld quotes as an inside joke. And thanks my Hulu subscription I can watch watch Seinfeld re-runs whenever I want to.
Seinfeld was the show about nothing. They spent entire episodes exploring the mundane parts of life such as waiting for a table at a packed Chinese restaurant or struggling to find your car in the mall parking lot.
The show started off a little slowly, but it soon found its legs and the quirky story lines made it a top hit for NBC.
And the Seinfeld cast was certainly able to cash in on the show’s popularity. By the end of the show’s run in 1998, Jerry Seinfeld was earning a reported $1 million per episode, while his costars earned a healthy $600,000 per episode.
Now that Seinfeld has been off the air for twenty years, I thought it would be interesting to look back at the net worth accumulated by each cast member.
The numbers below are thanks to Celebrity Net Worth, and they don’t just include earnings from the TV show itself, which in some cases makes up only a fraction of their true net worth.
Now let’s take a look at the net worth of the major Seinfeld cast members, and some of the smaller actors and actresses who made the show great.
Starting at the top…
Jerry Seinfeld Net Worth – $950 million
Jerry Seinfeld was a successful comedian for many years before hitting it big on the small screen. By the end of the show’s run he was earning a million dollars an episode.
but syndication is where the real money is and as one of the creators of the show, Seinfeld has amassed quite a fortune by syndicating first on regular television and then again on Hulu.
Larry David Net Worth – $400 million
Though he never appeared in an episode of Seinfeld, Larry David has earned more money from the series than anyone other than Jerry Seinfeld himself.
That’s because he was one of the co-creators and producers of the show. David also created and starred in another popular series: Curb Your Enthusiasm.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus Net Worth- $200 million
The sole female among major cast members, Louis-Dreyfus starred as Elaine Benes and later went on to star in other successful series including The New Adventure of Old Christine and Veep.
Of course, you might also remember her as Clark Griswold’s neighbor Margo in National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.
Jason Alexander Net Worth- $50 million
While best known for playing the paranoid and neurotic George Costanza on Seinfeld, Alexander has maintained a prolific career full of television guest appearances, movie roles, and voice acting. He’s also spent on stage and won a Tony Award for Best Leading Actor in a Musical.
Michael Richards Net Worth – $45 million
All great sitcoms have classic next door neighbors. The Honeymooners had Ed Norton. Happy Days had The Fonz. Family Matters had Urkel. And Seinfeld had Kramer.
Cosmo Kramer was the ultimate “hipster doofus” who was constantly getting himself and his friends into crazy situations. Michael Richards truly made the character his own. I can’t imagine anyone else ever playing Kramer.
Richards has guest appeared on numerous television shows and even had his own show for a time back in 2000, but to millions of Seinfeld fans he will always be remembered as Kramer.
Jerry Stiller Net Worth – $12.5 million
When you meet George Costanza’s parents, suddenly everything makes sense. Frank and Estelle Costanza stole every scene they were in and they’re two of the most memorable Seinfeld characters ever.
Estelle Costanza was played by Estelle Harris, and you might also recognize her as the voice of Mrs Potato-head in the Toy Story movies. I wasn’t able to find any net worth information on Harris’ net worth.
Frank Costanza was played by Jerry Stiller. Stiller was part of the husband-wife comedy team “Stiller & Meara” and spent decades perfecting his craft. When Seinfeld ended, Stiller went on to star in King of Queens alongside Kevin James and Leah Remini.
He’s also the father of actor Ben Stiller.
Wayne Knight Net Worth- $8 million
Newman! The next door neighbor you love to hate and Jerry Seinfeld’s nemesis. Their mutual hatred was the stuff of legend. No one could steal a scene like Knight did as Newman.
Outside of Seinfeld, Knight has appeared in numerous television shows and done significant voice acting. He also appeared in blockbuster movies Basic Instinct, JFK, and Jurassic Park.
